When Did Mandai North Crematorium Open?

Mandai North Crematorium began operations on 15 August 2025.

The facility was developed by the National Environment Agency to provide additional cremation capacity as Singapore’s future demand for after-death facilities increases.

Rather than replacing the existing Mandai Crematorium, Mandai North operates together with the existing facility.

Service Halls at Mandai North Crematorium

Mandai North Crematorium was designed to accommodate six service halls with viewing halls and transfer areas.

When the facility began operations, three service halls and nine cremators were equipped for use. NEA stated that the remaining halls and cremators would be fitted out progressively according to future demand.

The service and viewing areas are positioned close to one another to reduce unnecessary walking and make movement through the facility easier for visitors.

How the Crematorium Layout Helps Families

The building layout was designed with accessibility and visitor movement in mind.

Facilities on the cremation journey are positioned on the same level where possible or connected through lifts and escalators. This can reduce walking distances, particularly for elderly visitors and people with mobility difficulties.

Automated Coffin Transportation

One of the notable technological features at Mandai North Crematorium is the use of automated guided vehicles for coffin transportation.

Mandai North Crematorium was designed to house up to 18 cremators.

This additional capacity helps Singapore prepare for future demand while allowing the existing Mandai cremation facilities to continue operating.

Ash Collection Centre

Garden of Serenity

The Garden of Serenity is located next to Mandai North Crematorium and provides an additional government-managed option for inland ash scattering in Singapore.

The garden uses an open landscape concept with designated walkways and ash-scattering lanes, allowing families to gather and scatter ashes in a respectful setting.
